CHELAN-DOUGLAS HEALTH DISTRICT CONTINUES FREE TESTING FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 13-16

EAST WENATCHEE, WA – Chelan-Douglas Health District (CDHD) continues their efforts to provide free COVID-19 testing to the residents of Chelan and Douglas Counties for the week of October 13-16, 2020.

There will be free COVID-19 testing at Wenatchee High School, 1101 Millerdale Ave, Tuesday the 13th through Friday, the 16th, from 1-6 p.m.

Testing will also be offered in East Wenatchee at New Song Community Church, 11 N Iowa Ave, Tuesday through Thursday from 1-6 p.m., and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

There was a tremendous response from the community this past week to get tested. Between the two sites in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, 1,553 residents were tested for COVID-19. “By using a four-pronged approach – testing, contact tracing, isolation and quarantine, the virus can be tracked and interrupted,” stated CDHD Interim Health Administrator Nathan Weed, “which helps prevent the spread of the virus and in turn lowers the number of infected individuals.

In addition to this approach, community members can take other actions to prevent transmission, such as wearing a face mask or cloth face cover, frequent hand washing, and continue to keep at least six feet apart from others not within their household.

CDHD and stakeholders are in daily conversation with the Washington State Department of Health addressing the current modified one phase status. The key to moving forward is lowering the infection rate to 25 per 100,000 people. Community members are key to helping fight this virus.

There are ongoing planning efforts to set up more community testing sites throughout Chelan and Douglas Counties. We are looking for community partners who have significant outside open space available to set up drive-thru community testing sites. If you are interested in helping us, please contact our Incident Management Team – Operations Section at imt.osc@cdhd.wa.gov; they will evaluate the site to see if it fits the needs for a testing site.
