East Wenatchee, WA – Washington State Department of Health (DOH) expands COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to everyone 12 and older following an emergency use authorization amendment by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup for immediate use.
On May 10, the FDA authorized the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12 and older, based on data showing the vaccine to be safe and highly effective for kids 12 and older. The ACIP and Western States Workgroup voted on immediate use of Pfizer vaccine for individuals 12 years and older on Wednesday, May 12.
Please note, the Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine currently authorized for 12 to 17-year-olds. The mass vaccination site at the Town Toyota Center currently offers Pfizer vaccine. You can schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at the Town Toyota Center by registering via PrepMod or calling 509-886-6487.
Individuals who are 12 to 17 years of age need parent or legal guardian consent to get the COVID-19 vaccine. A signed consent form is required if a parent or legal guardian is not present. If the individual is an emancipated minor, supporting documentation is also required.
