East Wenatchee, WA – On October, 19th Chelan-Douglas Health District received statewide standing orders from DOH to administer the COVID-19 Bivalent booster dose to anyone who qualifies, over the age of five (5) years old. The bivalent booster vaccines provide additional protection by targeting variants that are more transmissible, such as the Omicron variant.
The FDA, CDC and Western States have approved the updated COVID-19 booster for young children. The Washington State Department of Health updated its booster dose recommendations. Recommendations for the bivalent booster vaccines vary depending on age and the type of primary vaccine series received. Moderna vaccine is authorized for youth ages 6-17 and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is authorized for children ages 5 through 11.
Chelan-Douglas Health District will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccines every Wednesday, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. The next available clinic will be Wednesday, October 26th and on Wednesdays through the month of November at Town Toyota Center. Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent boosters and Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric bivalent boosters will be offered by appointment only on Eventbrite.
